Scrivener Templates
Several Scrivener templates have been made available by their creators. These links go to the pages that explain the template and provide a download link. If you have made a Scrivener template available or know of any good ones, please let me know.
Download the files. If they are zip files, uncompress them. Then you can move them to wherever you want to store them. I find that double clicking on the Template file opens a new project, but you can also open them through the File > New Project menu. These are amazing. Enjoy.
Snowflake Method
This author writes a great blog post which introduces the Snowflake Method for writing a novel and offers up a Scrivener template for it.
Novel in 4 Parts Template
Tony McFadden makes this template available for 4 part novels. In addition to a basic structure, it contains plot construction questions and information and some useful templated Character and Scene templates.
Novel Templates from Mel Corbett
I don’t know who else out there uses scrivener, but if you do, I’ve got a couple scrivener templates made up. I’m not sure if they’d be useful to anyone else, but they’re set up to structure different kinds of novels. I’ve been studying story structure lately and will be the first to admit I still have a lot to learn, so these templates are a good way for to remember to write towards a plot point, and where I am at in the story arc.
Hero’s Journey Template – Based on my understanding of the Hero’s Journey.
Mystery Novel Template - Based on this very thorough article from Ticket2Write on plotting a mystery novel.
Beat Sheet Template - Based on Larry Brooks’ beat sheet template. I love the way this guy breaks down story structure.
Jamie Tood Rubin’s Short Fiction Template
Over the years that I have used Scrivener in my own fiction-writing, I have found that customizing a template for my short fiction has made the process of writing the story, collecting feedback on the story, revising the story, and producing a manuscript so much easier–because I can focus on the content.
Research Project Template
Designed to organize research and writing materials for a book-length historical research project.
Academic Writing Template
For writing journals and publications according to a somewhat generally accepted approach.
This Scrivener 2.04 template provides an overall structure of how to proceed with writing an academic paper in Scrivener. Much of this generated table of contents etc is based on research in the social sciences.
This template will need to be customised for someone seeking to write papers. This is a paper for journal or conference publication, not a thesis. A thesis will have more and varied sections.

Thanks for sharing the Hero’s Journey template. Now I can combine two favorite resources, Scrivener and The Hero’s Journey.
